SCIENCE MISSION DIRECTORATE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS & RESOURCE ACKNOWLEDGMENTS IN PUBLICATIONS

Reporting Requirements

Several brief reports are required from Science Mission Directorate (SMD) Principal Investigators (PIs) over the course of the allocation period:

  • An Entry Quad chart, due within 3 weeks of award, which gives general information about your research effort. Submitted material will be placed on a publicly accessible website.
  • Quarterly Reports, due at 3-month intervals, which provide opportunities to report status information directly to NASA Headquarters program officials and to raise issues about your research effort. Submitted material will not be made publicly available.
  • A Preliminary Annual Report, due 3 months before award expiration, which is used by NASA Headquarters in the decision process if you request a continuation High-End Computing (HEC) allocation award for your research. Submitted material will not be made publicly available.
  • An Annual Report, due at the end of the award period, which highlights research completed using your HEC allocation. Submitted material will be placed on a publicly accessible website.

Report forms and instructions are available at the e-Books website. To access e-Books for report submission:

  1. Visit https://ebooks.reisys.com/gsfc/nccs/index.jsp.
  2. Login using your e-Books username and password.
  3. Go to the Award Administration e-Books for your award group.

Note: e-Books sends automatic reminders of report due dates to the PI.

Resource Acknowledgments in Publications & e-Books Uploads

When you publish your research based on use of HEC resources, please acknowledge these NASA-provided resources with language similar to the examples provided below.

To access e-Books for publication upload:

  1. Visit https://ebooks.reisys.com/gsfc/nccs/index.jsp.
  2. Login using your e-Books username and password. 
  3. In the Award Administration e-Book for your award group, go to the left navigation bar and follow the + Award Management > • Publications link, select your award, and then follow the upload instructions.
