Before you can get accounts on NASA High-End Computing systems, you either need to be a NASA-sponsored Principal Investigator (PI) or have a PI sponsor you.
Once you have an award letter for new SMD sponsorship, you can start requesting accounts immediately.
The computing time award letter (the time between request and award varies by supporting organization) grants the PI an approved computational project with a unique group identification number (GID). Use this GID to get accounts on our computing systems. Please be aware that foreign national users have an extended process.
Note: The NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) Facility and the NASA Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS) currently have separate processes for getting accounts. For special cases, contact the NAS and NCCS Support staff via information listed in the table below.

| General Process |
1. The PI and team members fill out and submit an: Foreign National Users: Fill out additional forms, following procedures at: 2. The PI signs each team member's Account Request Form to verify their identity and need to work on computing project. Each user must sign the acceptable use statement included in this form. 3. Fax the completed form to NAS User Services at 650-604-1777. |
1. New users fill out and submit an: Note: PIs must get their accounts first and then authorize other users on their computational projects using the PI Portal. 2. Filling out the form results in a copy of the NCCS User Agreement. Print, sign, and fax it to 301-286-1634 or mail it to: NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Foreign National Users: Follow the General Process plus:
3. All users must annually complete NASA's Basic IT Security course, available on: |
